In an digital-filled world, the fashion industry is moving at a faster pace than ever, so to see a garment, past or present, that transcends time is something special. This post is dedicated to two dresses that are universally acknowledged as timeless.

Evening dress – Alexander Mcqueen – Voss 2001
Made from ostrich feathers and microscope slides, this dress is one of the best examples of incorporating meaning into a garment without sacrificing beauty. The dress in movement effortlessly glides like it has a mind of its own. The silhouette as well is incredible with a thin bodice that contrasts the rotund lower half that engulfs the legs.

The Rose Dress – Balenciaga – 1967
Do I even need to explain why this dress is iconic? The mere fact that this dress was made 57 years ago is outstanding. If this dress was featured on the runway now it would still be amazing. The theme of the dress is so perfectly executed, with a monochromatic colour palate allowing the silhouette to take centre stage. Cristobal Balenciaga was a true innovator when it came to fashion and this dress is a perfect example of his craft.
